BlackBerry Bold Touch Gets the Hands-On Treatment

BGR has gotten its hands on the upcoming BlackBerry Bold Touch 9930 gadget, which was codenamed “BlackBerry Dakota” during its development phase.

“It most certainly looks better in person compared to the product renders,” Jonathan Geller of BGR.com reported.

The phone features a 2.8-inch VGA capacitive touch screen with 640 x 480 resolution, quad-band GSM, tri-band UMTS, 768MB of RAM, 5-megapixel camera with HD video recording and image stabilization, 4GB of built-in storage, WiFi, 3G mobile hotspot, microUSB port, Bluetooth, and BlackBerry OS 6.1.

The device is expected to be announced at BlackBerry World trade event, with a possible June-July release. Check out the source link for the full hands-on report.

BlackBerry Bold Touch goes real, coming very soon

Looks like RIM is serious in launching their BlackBerry Bold Touch. Yes, the name says it all. The phone will retain the familiar Bold shape, and yet having the Touch gene as in the touchscreen ability of that tiny screen. This is the real QWERTY + Touchscreen that we will be experiencing, and BGR is reporting that the prototype looks even better than the renders. The site also reports that the touchscreen is plenty responsive, which could help induce users to move their thumbs from the optical trackpad for navigation. It also reiterates a BlackBerry World launch, so if things stay on track we'll be getting our own hands on one in just about one month's time.

The BlackBerry Bold Touch 9330 gets a quick hands-on action

Previously known as Dakota or Montana, the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9330 is just one of RIM’s new lineup of phones scheduled to be released this year. And now the touch bar gets some hands-on love and the initial impressions are not what you’d call negative.

The folks over at Boy Genius Report have got their lucky hands on the Bold Touch 9330 and according to them the phone looks much better in person, than on the product renders, that leaked a while ago. Along with the good looks, the Bold Touch 9300 is reported to be very well-built, too.

Here are some photos of the early production unit. Notice the carbon back battery cover, which seems more and more likely to replace the faux leather one RIM has been using so far.

The 2.8-inch touchscreen is responsive and reportedly compliments nicely the well-proven BlackBerry keyboard. Unfortunately, there’s no word on what performance the 1.2GHz Qualcomm CPU pumps out on the new BlackBerry OS 6.1, but we are ready to bet it’s not a turtle.

The BlackBerry Bold Touch is headed for a June-July release, with prices and availability likely to be announced at the BlackBerry World event on 1 May 2011.

BlackBerry Dakota / Montana spotted in the wild, sporting threads of carbon

So how’s our little leaked friend the alleged BlackBerry Bold Touch doing as Canada’s winter continues to rage? Looks like he’s all wrapped up and toasty in a tasteful carbon fiber weave. N4BB nabbed the first real-life photos of the triple-input-device OS 6.1 smartphone, which confirm its 640 x 480 VGA screen, though the publication says it’s also gained storage space (6.5GB flash) and lost memory (512MB of RAM) since the last time we heard its specs. There’s apparently still a 5 megapixel camera to be had, as well as a magnetometer, accelerometer and proximity sensor, and — as the rumor mill whispered in January — integrated NFC. Still no word on processing power, but it sure soudns like it’ll mop the floor with the Torch either way.

BlackBerry Bold 9900 coming to more UK retailers. Launching in Q3?

About a month ago, Expansys was the first UK retailer to say it would offer the BlackBerry Bold 9900 (without mentioning the smartphone's exact launch date). Now, more retailers have added the new Bold to their websites: Clove, Play, and Handtec.

Only Clove says when it expects to ship the 9900: at "the end of Q3." That's kind of odd, since RIM previously said the smartphone would be out this quarter (thus before the end of June). Sure enough, Clove might have meant to say "the end of Q2." Or maybe the new Bold is delayed? We don't know yet.

BlackBerry Bold 9900 coming to Virgin Mobile Canada “really soon”

It's still not clear when exactly RIM's brand new BlackBerry Bold 9900 will make its commercial debut, but Virgin Mobile over in Canada says it's ready to offer the smartphone "really soon."

Hopefully, this means in the next few weeks - despite recent rumors regarding the 9900's delay until September. Since Virgin Mobile Canada is a subsidiary of Bell, the latter may launch the new smartphone in Canada, too.

In the US, T-Mobile will be the first to release the new Bold, while Vodafone should be the first to do it in the UK.

Running BlackBerry OS 7, the Bold 9900 comes with a VGA touchscreen display, full QWERTY keyboard (like any other Bold, of course), HSPA, dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, 5MP autofocus camera, 720p video recording, 1.2GHz processor, and 8GB of on-board memory.

Virgin Mobile Canada To Release BlackBerry Bold 9900

Virgin Mobile Canada will launch the BlackBerry Bold 9900 very soon. The smartphone features the BlackBerry OS 7, a VGA touchscreen display, a full QWERTY keyboard, a 1.2GHz processor, HSPA, dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, a 5MP AutoFocus camera, a 720p video recording and an 8GB of on-board memory. BlackBerry Bold 9930 and Torch 9850 makes appearance in CelleBrite system

BlackBerry might be on the decline when it comes to their smartphone market share, but that doesn't mean the Canadian company is going to raise the white flag anytime soon. No sir, they are still very much in the game, and intend to make a splash with a couple more new models known as the BlackBerry Bold 9930 and Torch 9850 as spotted in the CelleBrite system. CelleBrite can function as a collaborative POS (Point Of Sales) system, but it also offers the capability to allow transfer of contacts to and from wireless devices.

Several carriers already use it in their stores, and what you see above is actually a screenshot of CelleBrite that was spotted by an anonymous reader, touting the BlackBerry Bold 9930 and BlackBerry Torch 9850 which has already been loaded into Sprint's CelleBrite system.

Does this mean we ought to sit tight and look out for a launch date and an official announcement in the coming weeks? The answer would most probably be a resounding “Aye!”.

BlackBerry Bold 9900 may be out in the UK on August 12

Here's some good news if you want to buy yourself the upcoming BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 in the UK. The smartphone may become available over there a full month earlier than we previously thought it would.

A couple of days ago, the Bold 9900 was listed by Amazon UK, in both white and black. The black version was due for release, according to the retailer, on September 15. And while that is inside the “third quarter” window that we heard will be when the device is finally out, it's to the end.

Now another well known online retailer that does business in the UK, Play.com, has also listed the (black) BlackBerry Bold 9900. Its price is lower than what Amazon asks, £519.99 compared to £549.99 to pre-order RIM's smartphone.

Not only that, but Play.com also says that the Bold 9900 will be shipping on August 12. That's more than a month before Amazon's estimated release date, so it means you only have about a month or so left to wait if you're in the UK and have to have the first BlackBerry to have a touchscreen in that ‘classic' BB form factor.

BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 UK pricing and availability revealed

If you are a BlackBerry faithful living in the UK, you are surely looking forward to the new Bold appearing on the shelves of your local cell phone shop. And now, we are not only about to give you the expected time frame of that happening, but we will also enlighten you on the pricing.

So here's the deal - if you pre-order your Bold Touch 9900 now, chances are it will be on your doorstep between the middle and the end of August. That's not too long a wait, so if you are interested, you might want to start saving.

Of course, you should be saving not for the handset itself, but for the contract accompanying it as all major UK carriers will be offering the Bold Touch 9900 UK for free. T-Mobile will require you to sign a £30.64/month contract , while on Orange, Vodafone and O2 will be charging you just over £35.We have no information of the length of the contracts yet, but 18 months for the more expensive ones and 2 years for the cheaper deal sounds like a pretty safe bet.

The only UK carrier that hasn't unveiled its Bold Touch 9900 UK contract plans is Three, but it has been confirmed that the handset will be available there, too, so we should know more soon.

BlackBerry Bold 9930 caught in bed with Verizon Wireless

It has been documented that Verizon Wireless will be rolling out a trio of BlackBerry smatphones sometime this year, although there was nothing specific mentioned back then. Well, fast forward to today, and we know that the BlackBerry Bold 9930 will be one of the three at the very least, since this smartphone has been spotted wearing the Verizon Wireless badge proudly.

Just what is so special about the BlackBerry Bold 9930? For starters, it will be one of the first few devices that are powered by BlackBerry OS 7, complete with a Verizon boot screen of course. No idea on how much Big Red will be selling this for though, what do you think?

New BlackBerry Bold 9930 for Verizon leaked, no word on its launch date

Research in Motion officially announced the BlackBerry Bold 9930 back in May, at the same time with the Bold 9900. The two smartphones are pretty much the same, the sole difference being that the 9930 has both GSM / HSDPA and CDMA / Ev-Do connectivity, while the 9900 is a GSM / HSDPA device only.

Naturally, the CDMA / Ev-Do capabilities allow the 9930 to be used on Verizon's and Sprint's networks. While neither of the two carriers has announced the Bold 9930, the smartphone has been spotted recently showing off a Verizon intro screen – thus VWZ could introduce the new Bold soon.

Just like the 9900, the Bold 9930 runs BlackBerry OS 7 and features a 2.8 inch VGA touchscreen display, full QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, 5MP rear camera, front-facing camera, 1.2GHz processor, 768MB of RAM, and 8GB of on-board memory.

I assume Verizon will sell its Bold 9930 for $200 on contract. More on this as we get it.

Blackberry Bold 9790 Bellagio is no hotel according to leaked tutorial videos

Will Research In Motion (RIM) be able to pull itself back from the potentially same black hole that Nokia is currently wading through? Perhaps, what with a bunch of new Blackberry models coming your way later this year. We do know that there will be a Blackberry Bold 9790 Bellagio that will be released, otherwise why would there be tutorial videos for it? Too bad those videos were not officially announced, but rather, leaked courtesy of a cyber-ninja.

The videos do show off some aspects of the updated Blackberry OS 7.0, where it will feature full touch-capable ability and it might just seem familiar to iOS and Android users – which is good as the learning curve would not be as steep, but hopefully RIM does not step on patent infringment toes in the process.

The Bellagio will bear no resemblance to the famous hotel casino in Las Vegas, but we do know it has 8GB of internal memory, an integrated NFC chip, and a QWERTY keyboard – would you take your chances with the Bold 9790 Bellagio?

Verizon confirms Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 launch date, posts BlackBerry Bold 9930 videov

Verizon Wireless has officially announced the launch date of its Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. As expected, this will be July 28 (two days from now).

The Tab 10.1 is Verizon's first LTE-capable tablet, and will cost $529.99 (16GB model), or $629.99 (32GB model). These prices require a new contract agreement and a data plan of at least $30 per month (which includes 2GB of data).

A Wi-Fi-only Galaxy Tab 10.1 will also be available starting July 28 for $499.99 – but just online and just in Metallic Grey.

Apart from announcing the launch date of the new Samsung tablet, Verizon has also published a video preview of the BlackBerry Bold 9930. This was done by mistake, though, since the video appears on the Bold 9650′s webpage (check the Explore Features link).

BlackBerry Bold 9900 for T-Mobile coming this August 31st?

Will the last day of August mark the first day of the BlackBerry Bold 9900′s life over at T-Mobile? That seems to be the case as said smartphone has already gone through the rigors over at the FCC, showing off support for T-Mobile's HSPA+ network, while a leaked screenshot (whether on purpose or not, that remains another can of worms) pointed towards an August 31st release date. You can pick it up with a $50 mail-in rebate alongside $20 monthly data plan to go along with your Berry goodness.

Sure, that means you no longer have a new phone to show off to your mates during this summer, but look on the bright side of things – at least you are able to have a new phone for autumn! The only thing is, why did the person who captured this leaked screenshot not get details on the final price point? That would be what most people are looking forward to anyways, as a mail-in rebate is more or less a given these days. Well, another 30 more days to save up for one of these puppies if you are interested!

BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 shows up at O2 UK

Just like Vodafone and Three, O2 UK is also getting ready to launch the new BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900. The carrier expects to start selling the 9900 sometime in August (when the ultra-cheap Alcatel 602 Rugby should be out, too). It doesn't say for how much, but customers will surely be able to get the smartphone for free on select plans.

The new Bold will come with BlackBerry OS 7, a 2.8 inch VGA touchscreen display, full QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, NFC, GPS, 5MP camera, 720p video recording, 768MB of RAM, 1.2GHz single-core processor, and 8GB of internal memory. You can see the handset here at O2.

Prices for BlackBerry Torch 9860, Torch 9810 and Bold 9900 announced by Rogers

As you may already know, Rogers is among the Canadian carriers that will launch the new BlackBerry Torch 9860 and Torch 9810 soon – “this summer” to be (not really) exact. The two smartphones will be joined by the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900, and Rogers has now announced the prices available on contract for the three new RIM devices.

The Torch 9860 and 9810 will cost $199.99 each, while the Bold Touch 9900 will be a tad more expensive: $249.99. All prices will require a new 3-yr contract agreement.

The Torch 9860, Torch 9810 and Bold Touch 9900 run RIM's latest BlackBerry OS 7, and are powered by 1.2GHz single-core processors. Apparently, Rogers intends to market them as 4G handset (because they can provide download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps).
